Six Pillars of Health

  • Eating a Whole Foods Plant-Based (WFPB) diet is one of the six pillars of healh defined by the American College of Lifestyle Medicine. I was personally amazed at my transformation from someone on the cusp of major health deterioration to someone who felt not just fitter and healthier but so much younger than my chronological age once I witched to the WFPB diet. I would love to talk to ou about considering a diet that is healthy not just fo you but for every living creature on earth and for the planet. Some of the most obvious benefits of it are: nutrient density, heart health, weight management, prevention and, in some cases, even reversal of chronic diseases, improved digestive health, environmental sustainability, and animal welfare. Let’s have a conversation about this!

  • I think intuitively we all now that getting off the couch, or getting enough steps, doing weight bearing, and stretching exercises is good for us and our longevity. However, this is one area of our lives where recidivism is high; only a rare few sustain the exercise momentum of theJanuary New Year’s resolution. Ever wonder what stops us from doing what’s so good for us? Is it possible for us to make this a non-negotiable part of our diurnal activities? Let’s chat, let’s leave the sedentary lifestyle behind us!

  • We often take sleep for granted. We pride ourselves on our nocturnal natures or the ability to get by on 3-4 hours of sleep. But adequate sleep could very well e the key to longevity. Sleep is when our body’s glymphatic system undertakes a major restoration and repair drill, every single night. Sleep is also important for heart health, for our immune systems, for metabolism and weight regulation and even for emotional regulation and mental health. If you have trouble sleeping and need accountability behind establishing bedtime routines, let’s have a conversation!

  • Stress management is essential for maintaining both physical and mental health, improving relationships, enhancing productivity, and promoting overall well-being. By incorporating stress-reduction techniques into daily life, individuals can better cope with life's challenges and enjoy a happier, healthier lifestyle. Do you need help with managing stress, would you like to discuss mindfulness based stress reduction practices?

  • Arthur C. Brooks, a prominent social scientist and author, emphasizes the importance of social connections for individual well-being and societal cohesion. In his book "Love Your Enemies: How Decent People Can Save America from the Culture of Contempt" and various speeches and articles, Brooks discusses the following points regarding social connections:

Social connections are essential for human flourishing.happiness, strong social ties give individuals a sense of purpose and meaning in life, they serve as a buffer against stress, adversity, and mental health challenges, and investing in social connections and fostering a culture of empathy, respect, and kindness are essential for individual well-being, societal cohesion, and the advancement of human flourishing.

This book and the works of others has convinced me that social connections are indispensable to our lives. How are you doing with yours, let’s talk!
